Alternative Auto Care is passionate about consumer education. We believe that educated consumers are our best customers. We know that there is lots of confusing / conflicting / misleading information out there about cars, car repair and preventative maintenance.
Purchasing a car is a major investment, whether it is a $1,000 “transportation special” or a $30,000 brand new luxury car. As consumers we all want to protect all of our investments – our vehicles are no exception. You do not need to be an expert or even “pretty knowledgeable about cars” to protect yourself and to take good care of your vehicle. Armed with a little information, we become more confident and better able to advocate for ourselves.
Interests vary and the ways to get information vary as well. Many of us have learned the hard way – by being stranded or having to pay a big repair bill. In that process we learn how we might have prevented the problem with proper maintenance or lowered the cost by addressing symptoms earlier. Certainly there are some good books available, if you are a reader and want detailed information. Of course, there is a lot of information available on the internet – but be careful – it is not all accurate! You can take an automotive class at the local community college or trade school – but that is often more information than you actually want or need – and it requires a significant investment of time and money.
Alternative Auto Care offers a variety of Consumer Education Workshops and these are a great way to learn to protect yourself. We are willing to work with any group: large or small and can customize a workshop to meet your needs. If your neighborhood association, or church group, or bridge club or social group is interested in learning more – contact us – we would love to help!
